Close to $200,000 Donated to Kids Helpline in 2019

First National Real Estate’s chief executive, Ray Ellis will hit the road in January reminding parents that Kids Helpline is there for their kids and to support the essential work the free national helpline provides for young people anytime and for any reason.

The ‘CEO’s Coastal Campervan Dash’ will start in Bright in Victoria on Wednesday 8 January, before heading up the South Coast of New South Wales – stopping at key locations to support and create network members’ additional fundraising initiatives for Kids Helpline.  The ‘Dash’ wraps up in Victoria’s Yarrawonga on 14 January.

Kids Helpline is Australia’s only free, confidential 24/7 phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.  The national helpline has responded to more than 8 million contacts over the past 28 years and the Christmas / New Year holiday certainly sees many young people reaching out for support and someone to listen.

‘Christmas is around the corner and while for many of us it is a time of joy and family celebrations, it can be a very challenging time for some young people’ said Mr Ellis.

‘Across Australia, every First National Real Estate office sponsors Kids Helpline to help children access the confidential guidance they need to cope, not just with any hardship associated with the Christmas season, but with year-round problems like cyber-bullying, depression, homelessness, mental health or suicidal thoughts’.

Throughout 2019, First National Real Estate has donated close to $200,000 in sponsorship funds to support Kids Helpline.  Every office is committed to promoting awareness and serves as a recipient for donations.  Many members have undertaken individual local fundraisers ranging from simple morning teas to sausage sizzles and charity auction fundraisers.

‘We want to make sure that Kids Helpline has the support it needs to respond to more calls than ever before, because all children and young people deserve to be heard’ said Mr Ellis.

yourtown* Fundraising Manager, Marie Coleman said, we are enormously grateful for the generous fundraising efforts of First National Real Estate to help Kids Helpline support young people who are feeling very alienated, isolated and who may feel overwhelmed over this festive season to connect to Kids Helpline.
