First National Real Estate has confirmed it will support Variety’s “Postie Bike Dash” for a second year, underpinning the charity’s support for kids suffering disabilities, chronic illness, financial hardship or geographical isolation.
Starting on 4 November, participants will don high-vis outfits and ride iconic Australia Post Honda CT110 motorcycles north from Tamworth, then loop around northern NSW stopping at First National Real Estate offices in Glen Innes, Coffs Harbour, Kew, and Taree, mostly on dirt roads, before returning to Tamworth by 9 November.
Up to six real estate agents will represent First National, with co-principal of First National Tamworth, David Doherty leading the network’s charge through his participation in Tamworth’s team of eight riders.
‘First National’s NSW members have contributed more than $40,000 to the Postie Bike Dash over the past two years. We see it as a fun way to engage with community, while raising awareness of the important work that Variety does,’ said Mr Doherty.
It was Mr Doherty’s participation in the 2007 national Variety Big Bash that gave him first hand experience with the outcomes of the vital work that Variety does. He subsequently lobbied the cooperative network for supportive funding.
‘The great thing about Variety is that they really do their homework and you get to see the end result helping kids and families.’ said Mr Doherty.
Variety’s Head of Regional Development, Jason Bourke, said that Variety was thrilled to have First National Real Estate supporting the Postie Bike Dash again.
‘The Postie Bike Dash is visiting numerous regional towns and communities where First National operates and we are looking forward to raising in excess of $100,000 through the Dash this year to support Variety’s work with kids living with disabilities, financial disadvantage and geographical isolation’.
