Periscope Revolutionises Auctions In Australia

What’s Periscope you might say? According to First National Real Estate, it’s revolutionising real estate in Australia and is the way of the future. Around the nation, more than 70 followers tuned in to the network’s Saturday Forresters Beach auction on Periscope, where they watched a record price achieved.

Sales agent, Phillip Martin of First National The Entrance, said the strong level of interest in the Foresters Beach property convinced him to trial live streaming the event.

‘First National The Entrance promoted the Periscope event to its Facebook audience two days in advance, telling people how to download the App and follow its channel in preparation’ said Phillip Martin.

‘First National Real Estate is leading the way with Periscope in Australia. During the auction, we saw local, national and international viewers, and we have received great feedback across the board. We’ll now be looking at other ways to use Periscope professionally, as part of a nationwide First National Real Estate pilot program.’

The 33 Forresters Beach Road commercial property attracted a crowd of close to 80 and strong bidding saw the property sell under the hammer for $1.2 million.

First National first broadcast video from its participation in the Ride For Sick Kids fundraiser in August. The Twitter owned Periscope App allows users to live stream video of events from their mobile device, offering real estate agents a range of new promotional possibilities.

Periscope takes advantage of its mobile platform, incorporating notifications and location as well as social sharing on Twitter, live discussions and feedback. A Periscope broadcast in full swing is a truly interactive event.

Once a broadcast is over, others can watch a replay and even provide feedback, within Periscope for up to 24 hours. After that, the broadcast is removed from the App, but each broadcast can be saved to a mobile device and, once there, can be published and shared online just like any other video.

The broadcast can be watched from First National Real Estate’s national Facebook page, facebook.com/firstnationalrealestate.
