Swimming Croc Infested Waters To Raise Funds For A Children's Hospital

Posted by Stewart Bunn

Agents from First National Kimberley (Kununurra, WA) swam 10km across the croc-infested waters of Lake Argyle last May to raise money for Princess Margaret Children’s Hospital in Perth. A record field of over 200 swimmers tackled the 10km and 20km courses through unseasonal rainstorms and squalls in one of the most memorable Lake Argyle Swim events ever.

First National Kimberley has sponsored the event for the past 5 years and raising awarness about First National's commitment nationwide, with more than 50 per cent of the event’s participants coming from interstate.

IMG_1922-1.jpgThe First National Lake Argyle Swim last year won “Best Regional Event” in the WA Sport & Recreation Awards and continues to be a massive success for First National and the region.

In 2016, our own First National Team included staff from FN Kimberley and the network’s Finance Manager. The network’s team came 3rd in the 10km quad team, which was a fantastic result for the first time entrants. Staff member Julie Simons, who just six months earlier could only swim breaststroke, learnt to swim freestyle in preparation for the event.
